Small Lot Ordinance is Becoming More Popular on the East Side of Los Angeles

We have been seeing more small homes on small lots due to the city’s Small Lot Subdivision Ordinance. What is it? The ordinance allows developers to build a collection of single – family homes or detached townhouses on a single lot. Developers still go through hurdles in dealing with the city codes and departmental regulations but they like this ordinance because they do not have to pay fees associated with building condominiums. The ordinance won’t change the character of single – family neighborhoods and can only be built on multifamily or commercially zoned areas.

Some of the projects that have been completed are Silver Lake’s Auburn 7 and Maltman Bungalows, Atwater Village’s The Mews and Eagle Rock’s Rock Row. There are three projects in the works, which are Silver Lake’s Edgecliff Townhomes, Los Feliz’s Vive and Atwater Village’s Las Casitas Village.

This is a great way to own an urban home of higher quality for less money with eco – friendly features and no condominium fees
